Canadian launch of the 2012 International Year of Co-operatives
January 12, 2012, was Canada's launch of the 2012 International Year of Co-operatives! Prime Minister Stephen Harper sent a special greeting to kick off the launch. Read it here.
If you weren't in one of the 14 launch cities, you could join the celebrations with a live webcast, sponsored by the 2012 International Summit of Cooperatives. Attendance online exceeded our expectations and www.canada2012.coop went down temporarily, but for those who couldn't log on in advance, an archive of the webcast is available here.

The International Year begins!
2012 is the International Year of Co-operatives and starting January 1, co-operatives across Canada and around the world have 366 days to raise the co-operative profile and celebrate the success of the co-op movement. The International Year will be launched in Canada in a truly Canadian fashion. On January 12, 14 simultaneous events will be hosted in 14 cities and a live internet broadcast will be streamed from Ottawa - Canada's capital. What a great way to mark the start of our year!
